Las Vegas has more full-time theater than any American city outside New York, and much of it was built for one show. Cirque du Soleil has several resident productions on the Strip, among them O at Bellagio, performed in and above a stage that is also a pool, Mystère at Treasure Island, the company's longest-running Las Vegas show, and Michael Jackson ONE at Mandalay Bay. The lineup changes as productions close and new ones open, so check the current schedule before you plan a trip around one show.
Beyond Cirque, magic is a Las Vegas specialty, from Penn and Teller's long run at the Rio to smaller close-up shows in theaters off the casino floor. Comedy clubs book touring comics every night, adult revues and variety shows fill late slots, and the city's concert residencies bring major pop and rock stars for a few weeks or months at a time. Sports have joined the mix too: the Golden Knights play hockey at T-Mobile Arena and the Raiders play football at Allegiant Stadium.
The Sphere, which opened in 2023 beside the Venetian, created a new kind of show. Its interior screen wraps over and around the audience, and the seats carry vibrations and wind effects, used for both immersive films and concerts. Afternoon screenings are often easier to book than evening ones, and the building's exterior display, visible across the valley, is a show in itself after dark. Big-name concerts at the Sphere and in the resort arenas sell quickly, so watch for announcements if a particular artist is your reason to come.
Nightlife ranges from the big nightclubs and summer dayclubs at the resorts to cocktail lounges with views, piano bars and guided pub crawls. Dress codes apply at most clubs. For show tickets, buy from the theater's box office or its official ticketing site, or through a well-known seller like the ones below; our sister site has a guide to planning a Las Vegas show trip.

How far ahead should I book a Las Vegas show?
For popular shows on Friday and Saturday nights, a few weeks ahead. Midweek seats are easier, and some theaters release unsold seats on the day.
Are Las Vegas shows suitable for children?
Many are, including most Cirque du Soleil productions and several magic shows, but some productions have age limits or adult content. Check each show's official site for age guidance.
Where can I buy show tickets safely?
From the theater's box office or official website, or through established sellers. Be careful with street sellers and look-alike websites.
