Las Vegas Festivals and Events
Races under the lights, rodeo cowboys, music festivals and fireworks over the Strip.
Las Vegas plans its year around big events, and they affect hotel prices as much as the seasons do. Some, like the night races and the Grand Prix, close parts of the Strip itself. Others, like the National Finals Rodeo in December, bring a whole culture to town, with Western shows, dances and shopping across the resorts.
Huge trade shows such as CES in January are closed to the public but fill hotels, so check the convention calendar before you pick dates. Summer is quieter for events because of the heat, while spring and fall are full.
Annual Festivals and Events
A half marathon, 10K and 5K run at night on the closed Strip, with bands along the course.
New floral displays for each season, free to visit.
Electric Daisy Carnival, a three-night electronic music festival with art installations and rides.
An evening street festival of art, music, food trucks and open galleries.
A parade and festival celebrating the LGBTQ+ community.
A night race on a street circuit that runs along Las Vegas Boulevard.
Ten nights of championship rodeo, with Western events and shopping across town.
A college football bowl game held at the home of the Raiders.
Fireworks from resort rooftops at midnight, with the boulevard closed to cars for the crowds.
Dates move from year to year — confirm on the organizer’s site before you plan around an event.

When are hotel prices highest in Las Vegas?
During big conventions, holiday weekends, New Year's Eve, the Grand Prix and major fights or concerts. Midweek dates outside those events are usually cheaper.
Can I watch the New Year's Eve fireworks for free?
Yes, from the Strip itself, which closes to cars that night. Expect very large crowds and security checks, and arrive early.
